Adaptive Kayaking Open House at Hotel Cascada

  • Hotel Cascada 2500 Carlisle Boulevard Southeast Albuquerque, NM, 87106 United States (map)

Kayak NM improves the physical, mental, social, and emotional well-being for kids and adults with physical or developmental disabilities through recreational adaptive kayaking. Kayak NM's program include kids and adults with Autism, programs for Healing Veterans through the the VA Medical Center & Wounded Warrior Project, programs for APS Adaptive PE programs, and summer camps for kids with cancer, autism, muscular dystrophy, and others.

Some volunteers will be in the pool guiding the kayaks around corners (basically grabbing the kayaks and helping steer them around the lazy river), so BRING A SWIMSUIT AND TOWEL. Others will be at the life jacket station making sure all the life jackets have been loosened up for the next person.  Volunteers who stay until the end will help with rinsing off and putting away the life jackets, sponging out the kayaks, and carrying out the kayaks to the trailer. Cleaning up usually begins around 8:15 to 8:30pm.

This is a truly special event for the kids and volunteers alike!
